Why Screen Mirroring Matters

Screen mirroring lets you display exactly what you're doing in the MicroREC App on a bigger screen like a Smart TV.

When done correctly, it turns your clinical or surgical workflow into a visual experience for:

  • Patient Consults – show images or videos directly to patients in real-time

  • Teaching in the OR – allow residents or students to follow what you’re recording without needing to look over your shoulder

  • Team Collaboration – let your assistant or scrub nurse see what you see through the microscope, without delays

And the best part? You keep using the MicroREC App the entire time — which means all recordings and images stay stored in your private MicroREC App library, ready to be reviewed, tagged, or shared.

How to Set Up Screen Mirroring

The goal here is simple: mirror your phone screen to a TV and then open the MicroREC App and start recording.

For iOS (iPhone / iPad with Apple TV or Smart TV)

  1. Make sure your iPhone/iPad and your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right corner).

  3. Tap “Screen Mirroring.”

  4. Select your display.

  5. Now open the MicroREC App and record, zoom, focus, or capture as needed — it will all be shown on the external screen in real time.

For Android (with Chromecast or Smart TV)

  1. Connect your Android phone and your TV (or Chromecast) to the same Wi-Fi.

  2. Swipe down to open Quick Settings.

  3. Tap “Smart View,” “Cast,” or “Screen Share” depending on your phone.

  4. Select the display.

  5. Once connected, open the MicroREC App and begin your work — everything from the live view to image capture will be shown on the TV.

💡 Pro tip: If your display isn’t smart, you can also use a physical HDMI adapter (Lightning to HDMI for iPhone, USB-C to HDMI for Android). Also you can use a Chrome Cast or AppleTV.

What to Do After You Mirror: Use the MicroREC App Camera

Now that your screen is mirrored — don’t switch apps. Just open the MicroREC App and begin working:

  • Record video directly from your microscope

  • Take high-quality clinical photographs

  • Everything is automatically saved in your private MicroREC App library

This keeps your clinical media separate, secure, and accessible later — no need to dig through your phone’s photo gallery.

How to Use the Camera Settings in the MicroREC App

The MicroREC App camera gives you precise control over the most important settings for clinical video and photography:

White Balance

Balances the color so whites and tissue tones appear natural — especially useful in the OR where lighting conditions vary. Tap to set it manually or use Auto mode to return to a neutral preset instantly.

Exposure

Controls how bright or dark your image is. You can slide to increase or decrease brightness manually — or just tap Auto to let the app optimize the exposure for you.

Focus

Use “tap to focus” to keep the area of interest sharp. You can also switch between Manual and Auto focus modes, depending on your magnification:

General tip for slit-lamp recordings:

  • Use Auto Focus for higher magnifications to maintain sharpness while adjusting the view.

  • Use Manual Focus for lower magnifications to lock onto the eye — and avoid focusing on eyelids or eyelashes by mistake.

Pro Tip: Set the Best Video Quality

Go to Settings > Video Quality inside the MicroREC App to select your preferred resolution and frame rate:

  • Choose 720p, 1080p, or 4K resolution

  • Choose 30fps or 60fps frame rate

Optimal Setup:

  • For longer recordings (30+ minutes), use 1080p at 30fps — excellent quality, manageable file size.

  • For short and detailed videos (e.g. slit-lamp captures), use 4K at 60fps for maximum resolution.

Mastering screen mirroring is a powerful step toward more engaging consultations, smoother teamwork, and clearer teaching moments.

With just your smartphone and the MicroREC App, you can elevate how you work, without adding complexity.
